Zhang Yimou Responds to Ad Scandal

Worldwide acclaimed film director Zhang Yimou has released the official reaction to accusations he recognized commissions from China’s Secretary of state for Railways for creating a questionable marketing video, Beijing Occasions reviews.

Zhang Yimou stated he received 2.5 million yuan (US$400,000) from Beijing Xin Shi Ke Culture Development Co., LTD which has signed an agreement using the ministry after taxes for that 10-minute video from the total 18.5 million yuan (US$2.9 million) it required to create the piece between 2009 and 2010.

However, unknown sources near to the deal revealed which more than one-third from the 18.5 million yuan was compensated by means of commissions, and it wasn’t obvious in which the remaining money went.

Zhang Yimou has refused accepting extra cash for that project and pledged to adhere to government bodies when they investigate situation.
